Description

The minor in engineering management offered by the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is designed to provide students with the skills needed for effective management of engineering-driven enterprises.

Engineering managers combine technical expertise with business knowledge to help lead organizations. Increasingly, technology-based enterprises are looking for engineers who understand successful business strategies. Additionally, engineering managers plan and coordinate large projects, leading a technical team from design through implementation.

The minor curriculum supplements the student's major by adding a breadth of engineering science and design and develops additional management and design skills. This knowledge is augmented with an understanding of business practices, organizational behavior and management skills to enable the graduate to succeed in the management of a scientific or engineering enterprise.

Topics such as project and resource management, financial engineering, risk management, configuration management, service plans, product liability, entrepreneurship and operations management are covered, in addition to product design and process development.
