Description

The human systems engineering minor is a first-of-its-kind program housed within the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. This psychology-focused program applies human factors and performance to solve problems within engineering, such as product usability and design.

With a human systems engineering minor, you’ll explore specific applications of human factors within medical systems, automation, sports and more. Your courses will sharpen your skills in writing, verbal presentation, literature review, research design, data analysis, statistics and quality control analysis, so you gain a better understanding of how humans and technology interact with one another. Additionally, you’ll learn about and research ways technology can be created or improved for the people who use it.

The main goals within human systems engineering are to enhance safety, reduce error, improve comfort and increase productivity. With that in mind, those who choose a human systems engineering minor will be well prepared for career opportunities in areas such as game design, human factors engineering, human systems integration, interface design and usability design.

Note: This minor does not prepare students for careers or degrees in clinical psychology.
